The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has commissioned a state-of-the-art Automotive Training Centre at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu main campus.
The facility, which is under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, aimed to strengthen Nigeria’s transport sector, promote local vehicle production, and enhance technical skills.
LASUSTECH Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, praised the initiative as aligning with the university’s IMPACT agenda, especially its focus on entrepreneurship and industry collaboration.
NADDC DG, Oluwemimo Joseph, noted the centre is the third of 21 planned nationwide and highlighted LASUSTECH’s strong technical reputation.
Minister of State, Senator John Owan Enoh, described the centre as a practical step toward achieving 40% local content in Nigeria’s automotive industry.
Representing Governor Sanwo-Olu, LASTVEB’s Executive Secretary, Mrs. Moronke Azeez, reaffirmed Lagos State’s support, calling the automotive sector vital to economic growth.
The centre is expected to serve as a hub for training, innovation, and job creation, bridging the gap between industry needs and skilled manpower.
